are so fascinating that many of the creative
people want to pursue this art as their
career. With a host of new software in
the market, drawing on the computer has
become pretty easy and if you have a passion
to draw you will definitely succeed in
this field. Computer animation is one
of the fastest growing areas in the field
of creative and technical development.
The amazing special effects, video games,
and virtual environments you see in the
television and in the CD/VCD/DVD formats
on your PCs and laptops are all the works
of the animators and their teams. |

| What is animation
all about? |
 |
An artist draws the pictures
or characters in the traditional hand-drawn
way or on the computer by capturing
every movement. The facial expression
is painstakingly drawn, then transferred
onto film or onto a digital media. When
these drawings are seen one after the
other it looks like the characters are
in motion. Nearly 20,000 drawings are
needed for a 30-minute film. With latest
technologies this process has become
faster and easier. But this is not possible
by just one person; it is a team effort.
The whole process includes the efforts
of scriptwriters, storyboard artists,
layout artists, project managers, technical
directors, producers and cameramen.
So with so many options you can choose
to be any one of these. |
 |
| What are the skills
required? |
 |
| Basically, you should be
interested in drawing and if you are an

in the animation industry, it is widely
recognized that the most important skills
needed are mainly flair for creativity,
good visualization, drawing skills, storytelling
ability, good amount of physics, mathematics,
computer skills, scripting languages,
and a combination of technical skills
are very important. Communication within
the team is a must.
There are lots of artists who work
independently, but due to the increasing
demand for the animated movies there
is an emphasis on teamwork, which is
very important. In this field a large
team is required to perform various
tasks, which involves many stages of
production. Be it ideas, content or
script writing, voice-over, editing,
designing, mixing of sound, etc. There
are various stages before it goes on
the television or the big screens. So
if you are patient and persistent this
is the field in which you can excel.
