websites and graphical presentations you
see on the internet are called web designs.
Web designing involves front-end designing
i.e., what people can see and also back-end
programming to capture visitor information
and provide interactivity. The content
is shown in a graphical way to make the
web pages more appealing to the eye. There
are many programming languages used for
web designing, including HTML, CSS, and
XHTML. The web pages are made interactive
using e-commerce, PHP, JAVA, J2EE, .NET,
ASP, etc. Websites can be made more appealing
with animation using the software called
Flash. Bigger websites and portals require
content management systems and backend
database. Knowledge of MS SQL, MS Access,
Oracle Database, My SQL, etc. would be
beneficial. |

| First you have to decide
whether you would like to get into back-end
designing or front-end designing. For
front-end designing work you need talent
and if you are a graduate from an art
school, it will be a plus point. Most
companies are particular and would want
you to produce your course/degree certificates.
The employers would be pleased to appoint
you if you posses the piece of paper which
shows that you have been trained and experienced
by a graphic design school. Basically
a graduation from any discipline will
do.
There are lots of design studios and
schools, which train you with the basics
of web design. Some of them are NIIT,
Arena Multimedia and art schools.
For back-end work too, you can easily
join computer training institutes and
attain a diploma. To master the art
of web designing you require a lot of
hands-on experience.

keep in touch with you. Try and meet

and advertise about your talent. Once

you are more the money you can expect.
A fresher will get somewhere between Rs.
60,000 to Rs. 80,000 p.a. If you have
the expertise in web application and hosting
you can expect a lakh and sometime even
more per annum. This depends on the employer.
Once you have spent a year in this industry,
you would be able to demand 2.4 to 3.6
lacs per annum depending on your portfolio.
If you are a Flash designer your salary
package will be very impressive, but
this will depend on the amount of knowledge
and experience you posses. |
