A predictive dialer is nothing but an automated tool that dials a set of number automatically and then subsequently connects those numbers to the agents who are sitting in a call centre. Predictive dialer is software that holds special algorithms which dials the number and saves the time which could have been spent by agent in dialling the number, listening to the calling tone etc.
Not only this a predictive dialer also isolates the unconnected ,unanswered ,answering machine calls, fax number calls from the useful calls and connects only those lines to the agents which are answered by people. An auto-dialer precedes a predictive dialer. A predictive dialer also monitors the call and records the call related statistics like the answering time and the response time for future use.
Predictive dialers are widely and extensively used in call centres for making sales related calls as they have the capacity to save a lot of precious time which could otherwise be spent on more fruitful work. The use of predictive dialers has dramatically increased the ‘talk time’ in call centre as the waiting time has reduced considerably. A 2002 survey reveals that thanks to predictive dialer the average talk time in sales communication has increased from twenty minutes to fifty minutes, an increase by hundred an fifty percentage point.
